The Parish of Holy Family congratulates you on the recent or upcoming birth of your child. We share your joy in your decision to begin preparation for the Sacrament of Baptism. With eager longing, our faith community looks forward to that day when you will bring your child to the waters of new life.
You, as parents, in cooperation with God's grace, have made the choice to accept the responsibility and commitment to " bring your child up in the practice of the Catholic faith." In light of this important choice, preparation for your child's baptism requires serious and thoughtful consideration: "...before the celebration of the sacrament, it is of great importance that parents, moved by their own faith...should prepare to take part in the Rite [of Baptism] with understanding."
To assist you in this, Holy Family Parish offers pre-baptismal preparation classes. These sessions are designed to help you gain a greater appreciation of your privileged role as Catholic parents. The content of these instructional gatherings focus upon the Rite of Baptism— because the surest way to understand what the Church teaches about Baptism is to discover how the Church celebrates Baptism.
We also ask your child’s new godparents to attend these sessions with you. As representatives of the Church, their role is primarily one of witness. Godparents must be at least 16 years of age and a fully-initiated and practicing Catholic.
