Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you: For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8)
Whether thanking God for blessings, asking for strength, or seeking guidance during difficult times, we can invite children to learn to pray and to believe that God hears our prayers and always responds. You can make a powerful statement to your family about the importance of prayer and foster an awareness of the sacred by creating a prayer center in your home with your family. A prayer center can be a small table covered by a cloth to show the liturgical season. On the table, you can place a Bible and one or more of the following: a bowl of holy water, a crucifix, a religious image or statue, a candle, a plant, or flowers. Family members can use this space independently, and you can use it together when you gather to pray.
